Pitlochry

Tuesday 3rd April 2012

The outline design stage has been completed and agreed with the Club. Planning approval was received in October 2011 and the Club has been seeking financial support for the project. This has been successful and they hope to start with phase 1 this year (2012).

The project consists of a number of phases, the timing of which has yet to be confirmed. The initial phase should involve the creation of a new driving range and bays plus a short game area.

After that the general plan is to create a 9 hole Academy course and then re-model the existing course to convert 2 par 4 holes into par 5s. One of these will be a new hole 2 designed into a new area of land. The other par 5 will be extended from the existing 12th hole into the area of the old 2nd hole.

A longer-term plan will see the existing par 4 hole 9 being converted into a par 3 which will ultimately provide a more balanced course with two par 3s on each 9 plus a par 5 on each 9. This longer-term plan will also see some significant improvement to the existing holes with new bunkering, more planting and a new green. Some additional water features will be added during all of the phases.

Some of the smaller re-modelling work has already started with a new bunker at hole 15 and some additional planting at other holes.
